That requirement has now been lowered to £100,000, corresponding to an annual income of about £500,000.

You only need a $500,000 (£307,000 at today's exchange rate) lump sum to get into America (one way to get in, there are others). Then you can own what you like and carry it too. And rather a better choice of ranges than the channel islands I'm sure!
