Great british shooting show 2020

#1 Post by the running man »

Well just got back, i must say it was a much better show than 2 years ago, everyone went in on time, a very good diversity of stalls, lots of expensive stuff along with some bargains, my mate bagged a cz for 100 quid and ibwas quite jelous. quite a lot of country clothing (too much really), picked up a few little bits that have disappeared from the internet! And bagged a nice pair of meopta binos. Ide give it a 9 out of ten over 2 years ago which got a 3 out of ten.

I enjoyed it.
Mainly for a pleasant day wandering around lots of guns with my mates, rather than buying much.
Looked at lost of different air pistols for the Scouts though.

Exactly. Thoroughly pleasant day and some nice kit to look at. I'm don't go expecting 'cheap' stuff. Exhibitors can not be expected to pay for the exhibition fees, staff fees and other large expenses and then flogg stuff below their 'cost'. All IMHO of course. :)

I'm vaguely considering going on Sunday.
I'm pretty much maxed out as far as firearms and shotguns go.
What's the situation for cleaning gear, reloading, and BP related gear?

Certainly saw some cleaning kit and reloading stuff. Perhaps not as many 'big' retailers as previous years but that's only what I remember as I wasn't going to buy. Don't know about BP.

I thought it was a good day out, although a good 6 hour round trip might put me off going again.

Not a huge amount of BP stuff but certainly one stand selling a verity of BP revolvers and other cowboy action shooting kit.

I bagged a tired but fully functional Sec1 Mossberg 500 for a grand sum of £95.

If you want a cheap Rimfire there are hundreds for sale.

The ticket pricing was a little odd:

£20 for one day, £40 for two - no saving and just £30 for three.

And no point in buying in one day tickets in advance with the extra handling/transaction fee as they are £20 on arrival.

Just got back, and I did enjoy the day. It's not something I do every year but going round the stands and seeing some the latest things is always amusing for a few hrs. Picked up some bits - some ammo and tbh I ended up spending more than I had planned to on a new LBP. Really does get crazy crowded as the day goes on but of course that's a good sign.

I bought mine a few weks ago and they were £18

I went on Friday with a few friends and had a good day, it was quite quiet so nice and easy to get around and see things. Took a rifle for one of the dealers to do a repair. When I got to the entrance, two guys in front had gunslips and advised by a policeman they should not be bringing guns into the show and when they explained they were exhibiting on a stand he said he would have to escort them to it but a security guard took them!!! So I approached the bench, security guard asked to see my certificate so I got my FAC out which was folded up. He looked a bit dumbfounded so I unfolded it, he glanced at it and said fine, in you go!!! Policeman never said anything and in I went. I would have thought the whole point of checking my FAC would be to see if the rifle I had with me was listed on my ticket. Heyho, I wasnt bothered.

You do get a bit shotgun blind at these shows theres so many racks of them and the county clothes.
Remember, we're all here because we're not all there!

The police were there? In all my years of attending Pistol AD, Trafalgar and subsequently Phoenix, I never saw the police there!
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Guns dont kill people. Dads with pretty Daughters do...!
