That'll be rather hard as it won't be on the market until the spring. Viht has yet to provide any loads data for it either.

Ah, the latter point is interesting. It's gone up in the last 24 or 48 hours - the loads data link said 'to be provided' when I clicked it a couple of days back. In fact, it looks like Viht's announcement is premature - at the time of posting this, its N555 load has yet to appear for the 308 Win / 180gn RWS Uni Classic combinationmag41uk wrote:Ahh didnt see the release date!Laurie wrote:That'll be rather hard as it won't be on the market until the spring. That allows some comparison with N550 to see how this grade differs. As I thought might be the case, it appears to be considerably slower burning than N550, with an even larger step that way from N150. Charge weights are much closer to N560 than 550. In at least one cartridge (6mm Creedmoor) it appears to be slower burning than N160 with many bullet weights.
I can see just where Viht is coming from here - it desperately needs an H4350 replacement (which N550 definitely is not) because H4350 has the characteristics the market really wants right now. Thanks to the EU and its damnable Reach project the goalposts are currently wide open for suitable European manufactured alternatives. RUAG/Bofors has got first strike in with Alliant Re16 which many American precision shooters are saying is at least as good as, possibly superior to H4350, so hopefully this'll see Viht catch up.
