Bench powder dispenser recommendations

I've done quite a lot of playing around with the Lee Perfect measure and have found the following things to be important to get consistency. In order of effectiveness:

1. A consistent rhythm in use.

2. Tap the measure gently when in the discharge position to fully empty the cavity and knock down any bridging. I've found the worse thing to do is to tap the measure when the cavity is filling from the hopper - very inconsistent.

4. A little graphite works well as lubrication and anti-static, but won't affect the powder.

Thanks for the tips Triffid! I've tried a variety of 'tapping techniques' and if I tap in both the filling and dispensing positions it throws a whole grain more powder!

I found that tapping on the filling position destroyed any consistency. Using the powder baffle kept a constant head of powder above the cavity and I try to leave the cavity in the filling position for a constant time.

Probably the best thing for consistency is powder selection. If you're using an extruded powder (like most of them!) it's hard work getting things right. But spherical powders are much much easier, but are more prone to bridging.

No need for special baffle a powder filler on the top of the hopper kept topped up with powder does the same job.
