Thats why the whisper family is such a conundrum of a round it turns conventional ballistic thinking on its head, a slow heavy bullet shouldn't do what it does.

The whisper range of cartridges is what first grabbed my interest in the subs. All the reports are that they are capable of sub MOA accuracy out past 600m and some are still viable out to 1000m with very little loss of velocity.

It would interesting to see what sort setup was used for testing that sort of ammunition out to 1000m.

1000m shooting with a sub is very impressive, assuming you start at 1050fps (ish) you would need 160+MOA to get on target. The odd thing with subs and my calculations is the velocity seems to stay high relative to MV.

I would guess its down to the fact that it starts off subsonic and there is no transition from super to sub.

Yes, a big heavy bullet with far less friction as it has started off slow, I should look at the drops for my 190's out to say 2500m and see how the velocity looks once it drops below 1200fps, it may well look the same as the sub.
