Having finally got my rifle re-barelled - and beautiful it looks too, thanks Mik - I settled down to my first session of re-loading on new bench with all new kit. Carefully lined everything up, read all the instructions (stopped for a cuppa!) assembled press & dies and sorted out the first batch of empties to de-cap & re-size.

Did the first one, adjusted slightly, did the second one - looks good to me and Chris. So - full speed ahead. 12 down, 300+ to go. Where the hell did that Berdan primed case come from :o :( :(

Just got off the Midway site having ordered a replacement spindle!!

God, this game is irritating.

Yep, as they were only £11, seemed a sensible idea. Also ordered a lube tray as it seemed just as messy using a spray.

Best way to prevent it happening again is buy some spares, I have half a dozen large and small pins for our Forster dies and have never even open the packets since they came home.

Imperial sizing wax - accept no substitutes, once used you will never go back to anything else.

Not a problem if you reload berdan - just decapped 100 of them (MEN brass)

Hi all

Thats a kicker when that happens .. a trick I use is the following

After the tumbling stage and whilst i was checking that the media was properly removed
I used a small tactical torch to confirm the case was empty and in fact boxer primed.

Besides numerous surprise berdans I have found caked mud & grass, 22lr cases, primers, insects etc

Be extra careful when you get any form of odds and ends and some collections

Heather i would nt use either spray or lube , they are both too messy and not as good as imerial sizing wax

I get on fine with the Lee wax lube, seems to last for ever and never had a sticky moment O:-) never had the problem with Berdan as I make extra sure to keep the cases separate, but I thought that Lee dies at least were designed to allow the spindle to slip is too much pressure put on it? don't know about the other brands.
