Military Brass Cases Sold to Public as Part of New Law US

I tend to pick up the occasional 5,56x45 case and on occasion live rounds at Barton Road as well. I seldom see any 7,62 though. The range manager at Ulfborg where we shoot in Denmark has a large ashtray on his desk (He is a non smoker) It is full of live stuff from .22LR to 50BMG - I once asked him why, he grinned and replied they were all pick ups.

I have picked up a couple of boxes of .303 at Bisley as well, as luck had it the previous shooter was within shouting distance.

Generally speaking the UK Military collect the fired cases off the range, every body does a declaration that they have 'no live rounds empty cases or missfires'. The empty cases are then bagged up in sandbags returnd to an ESA where they are checked to make sure no live rounds are present, a 'free from explosives' certificate is issued and in time all is returned to Radway Green from whence it came to be recycled into new brass, or it was when I was in the RAF and I had to deal with such things.

Ex mil brass (once fired) has been advertised in the NRA (USA) magazine "RIFLEMAN" for some time..
