This is just a fecking disgrace, one firearm type club talking about a judicial review of the part that effects them, presumably because the FCSA believ that they will not be properly represented by any "national" body. MARS lever release left by the way side with no one "national" seeming to be bothered.
I know that some of the "nationals" have made noises but what are they actually doing?
This is a national threat to all legal gun owners in the UK and should be fought and challenged in a unified and national way.
This is a real test for the "national" bodies and if they fail us on this one then what little credibility they may still have as being representative of legal gun owners will be shown to be their lie.
This outrageous and unfounded attack on legal gun owners should be challenged loudly and publicly, it isn't just about the guns but how the home office, the police and their anti legal gun owning cohorts just go around making up firearms legislation.

I do hope that you are correct, however the FCSA'a take on the discussions would appear to be less than hopeful, Judicial review needed.Airbrush wrote:Just had a very imformative chat with BASC Firearms dept.![]()
I won't go into chapter & verse but basically I'm relieved to hear that they're on the case & are having constant meetings with the HO & pro shooting MP's, as well as the NRA, FCSA.
I've suggested that it would be a good idea to update the membership on what's happening & they're already thinking of doing this, but obviously a detailed statement won't be possible due to the nature of discussions.
All in all I got a positive vibe & would encourage any one to give them a call to discuss.
BASC are good at spin, but less on substance. They proclaimed the fee's issue a success for shooters when we were obviously shafted.
Anyway I do hope that this time they are effective and stop this nonsense dead without compromise as what is proposed is disproportionate to the risk to public safety, if this goes through in any way including increased superfluous security then we are shafted because having accepted that argument then it will go for all of us.

Re: New laws coming?
My email to BASC
I have been a member for a good many years and I am disappointed to see that there is no prominent mention on your website of the current HO consultation regarding .50 Cal. and "Rapid Firing" rifles. I own a 9mm Lever Release rifle and it is evident that the obscure wording of the consultation appears to attempt to disguise that these are being targeted as well. I know you have had a meeting with the HO but where are you making public outcry of the ridiculous justification the HO is making in pushing these in to Section 5 firearms. Can you confirm what your action plan is in tackling this head on. This is the tip of the iceberg of the HO's wish list and the way it is going there will be no need for BASC in ten years time!
This is their response
This press release was sent out on the release of the consultation - https://basc.org.uk/blog/press-releases ... sultation/
As you will see it is clear to point out things like
“BASC will ensure that the views of its members will be represented as part of the consultation process. We will continue to challenge proposals for changes in legislation if we believe they are incorrectly targeted or will be ineffective.
“BASC will hold the government to account and demand that any proposals to change legislation are proportionate and evidence led. While we will be supportive of measures which tackle crime, it is important that legislative changes are not made as a knee-jerk response.”
I hope this reassures you.
Unfortunately there is nothing else to say at present until we have responded. We are using the maximum amount of time allowed to work on this and respond accordingly and will continue to work with officials and use parliamentarians to our best advantage.
This is simply a consultation at this stage to seek views. Whilst it may appear fait accompli and the Government has the legislation in place to move firearms into the prohibited category, we would urge calm and for people to use the consultation properly to challenge the threat by making cogent arguments against the proposals. It may still be possible that the government takes the firearms elements forward only in part or perhaps not at all.
I hope this helps.
The impression is that they are sorting it but not exactly telling members how? Not convinced as there is nothing encouraging ALL their members to get involved!

Obviously they don't want the masses involving them selves in their cost little technocrat coven.
Mobilise people, how populist, not what us leading elites would do, that would just confuse and sully the issue, always remember the membership cannot be trusted. We are the chaps who know how to deal with these things and if they fail they will just move onto another cosy little job somewhere else in some other sphere.

We had 30 years of terrorism, daily attacks in N/I and no firearms restrictions were put in place, so i assume the authorities did not see the theft of firearms by terrorists as a issue. A few attacks in the rest of the UK and the government and police use terrorism as a excuse to restrict firearms.

Re: New laws coming?
You have Mo Molam alone, to thank for that.
And when the “political parties” have more guns than decent society, they can’t push the same agenda!

In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Not just handguns, no restrictions because on firearms for fear of terrorists steeling and using them. Now suddenly its a issue, but as we all know its just seen as a opportunity to use terrorism as a excuse to restrict civilian ownership of firearms. PS You are right plenty of politicians and their hired minders have firearms.
In Northern Ireland today, 61,144 people currently have firearms certificates. 58,000 licences, they covered more than 144,000 guns, one for every 12 people in the jurisdiction - double the equivalent in Scotland.
At Stormont, there is a special storeroom for guns deposited by Assembly members and visitors.
Several Sinn Fein members, including the Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness and the party leader Gerry Adams, are thought to hold firearms licences along with their minders.
Re: New laws coming?
I did get a reply from a politician i emailed regarding the firearms consultation and got a politicians answer.
Dear sir
Thank you for your recent correspondence by email regarding a consultation that is being undertaken by the Government in relation to the introduction of a possible ban on certain types of firearms in the United Kingdom.
I have noted carefully the concerns that you have shared with me regarding these proposals and this will be helpful to my colleagues and I as we liaise with the Government about any proposed legislation in Parliament.
Thank you for taking the time to share your views with me on this important issue. It is very much appreciated.
With kind regards,
Yours sincerely.

Re: New laws coming?
65 pages of ranting and raving and yet still nothing constructive has come from full bore. I understand everything that has been said here but surely now is the time to start forming a group that can constructively take on these issues.
The only group that really is making a b-line for this is only interested in .50cal rifles, at the moment there is no single party fighting everyones cause, that needs to change.
We need to stop hiding from this sport and make a front, for the benefit of ALL shooters.
Or alternatively we could have another 65 pages of people talking about something that no one is doing anything about.
Suggestions on how we can form an organisation to move the sport forward not backwards, this forum has 550 Members give or take, that is a good start??

Re: New laws coming?
My MP wrote back to me to advise he is going to speak to the Justice MP Hurd, and has forwarded on my original correspondence to him also.
All I would suggest is email or write to your MPs. The more of these emails or letters they see and in turn forward on then the more the message will get across.
I will phone BASC tomorrow as its lame if they are doing things but not telling the membership
