Schmidt Ruben k11 front sight adjuster

I used a drift punch and a brass hammer to move the front sight on my K31s and K11. Worked fine for me.

Despite having made a few sight adjusters I also prefer a brass punch and light hammer for front blade adjustment on many rifles. It is a one size fits all solution and is surprisingly accurate.

Less gewgaws, less clutter, less to carry, less to misplace and loose.

Hmm... I seem to end up machining a couple of punches every year as people 'borrow' them and seldom return them. At this rate I will run out of brass rod in the next couple of years and I am tempted to start making brass tipped punches to save on material.

I just use sections of old brass cleaning rods, those completely useless ones that comes in sections, screws together and promptly snaps off at the connections when used.

Damn sight easier to replace when lost/borrowed/thieved than bespoke tools.

I have used the head of a milsurp cartridge case before now as a brass drift

Yes but there is no fun in machining brass punches and I have loads of brass rod that I would rather use for some thing else.

I sent the adjuster to the Guy who asked me to make it for him. Apparently he did not want to use a hammer and punch.
The adjuster in use apparently it works perfectly. I'm really pleased it turned out OK for him.

I have turned my attention to making one for the G11 I think this one will be a bit more complicated having looked at the dimensions.
But it will keep me out of mischief for little while. I have another couple of little projects on the go to while away the cold winter nights. This machining thingy is fun and quite challenging keeps the grey matter working and that's the main thing. Now were did I put that chuck key hmm.
