Re: Glass bedding rifles

#11 Post by ovenpaa »

Thank you Robert, I have looked at the Flexibloc in the past. My original action choice was the Millennium action which utilises the Flexibed but getting one to the UK was difficult so I went for a Barnard instead.

The rifle I will be bedding is the Schultz & Larsen, it is bedded already by the factory but they use a very soft bedding and I am not satisfied with it. I will take the old bedding out and add some pillars. I had already thought of counter sinking the action screws so they centralise in the pillars so I am pleased you have suggested it as well!

I also like the idea of machining the pillars to screw diameter and then machining out afterwards - an easy process and with the countersunk head the screws will be perfectly aligned. I could always add a top hat type bushing where the pillars meet the action that is sized to the diameter of the screws but that is taking things to extreme and I would only do it to see how it turned out.

I am looking forward to doing this and will post some pictures.
