Hi all
I've used the method of inserting a bullet finger tight in an unsized case and putting it in the chamber.
When extracted I have consistently over half a dozen attempts got a length of 2.340".
Does anyone know if this is a reasonable jam COA for a .223 Howa 1500?

To update myself.
Just tried a different case and got 2.360".
2.310" is mag length, the manual max COA is 2.260".
The is my first foray into accuracy reloading so I'm looking for a place to start.
Would any of these do with or is one better than another?

How about loading to book length and see how that shoots?

Use the brass and bullets you intend to shoot to get your COAL - then seat 20 thou. deeper as a starting point.
Play with the load to get your best group then play with seating depth to see if it improves.
