Best F/L sizing die for 7.5x53.5 Schmidt-Rubin?

#1 Post by ukrifleman »

I have heard lots of negative things said about using Lee 7.5x55 dies for loading 7.5x53.5 Mod 1889 Schmidt-Rubin ammunition.

Just asking, what is the general consensus and recommendations for dies to load this calibre?

I neck size only after the first fire-form (using Lee dies). In my rifle the case shoulder looks slightly rounded after firing. I do not bother to trim the cases. I shoot cast only in this rifle, so pressures are low.

I have always used Lee for a k31 as far as I am aware the 1889 shouldn't be an issue the k31 was as it had a much tighter chamber than the G11 and K11 so dies meant for those sometimes caused issues with k31s the 1889 has a totally different bullet shape
