Ta da!! My first ten little soldiers!!
Many thanks to my friend who gave up his evening last night to help me set up my press, dies, powder dispenser etc and make my first ten .38 Special rounds!!

If you think you are a person of some importance, try ordering someone else's dog around.

Very good, you only have another 290 to make this time :)

Well I bought a box of 500 bullets, we made 6 dummies to ensure they would cycle and then the 10 live rounds so I've actually got 484 to make next time, ha ha!!!

Good job that man! You've now started on a never ending path towards perfection, enjoy the journey!

I had the same proud. Luckily my local RFD offered to let me test fire my first 10 into a metal tube he has.
As they went bang, I made another 50 with various charges and went load developing at the next club day :-)

Nice work! When you've settled on an overall length, crimp etc, make a reference round, just don't prime a case, tip some spent primers in for a rattle and seat and crimp the bullet as normal. Then you've got a reference round that looks nice on the shelf.

I can still recall the first time I shot my own loaded ammunition, it was a .308 and I wore safety glasses and crossed my fingers before I started. The loads turned out to be incredibly soft :)
Your overall cartridge length is every bit as important as what you cram in it and something I always double check even if the press is already set-up. I still wear them to this day when testing and should really wear them all the time.
