I've just purchased a Winchester .45 underlever and need some ammo - but am having a devil of a job finding a dealer that stocks it ! I live in Wells, Somerset and none of the local RFDs have it. Hubby's also in the process of buying a Winchester .44 magnum underlever so we'll need ammo for that very shortly too. Any suggestions for stockists in the south west would be really appreciated !
Thanks,
Rose

Re: .45 ammo stockists ?
By .45 I presume that you mean .45 Long Colt?
It is produced by Sellier & Bellot as well as Magtech so might be worth contacting Viking arms who import these brands as to stockists.
44 magnun is also produced by PPU as well as the two manufacturers above so contacting Kranks the PPU importers as well for that calibres.
Shooting factory is going to expensive and accuracy can go from good to atrocious depending on the ammunitions suitability for the gun. Handloading/casting is the way to go, especially for these calibres, if you wish to get the best out of your firearms.
Good luck in getting .45 long Colt ammunition as from my experience it tends to be rare in this country and if you find any then I would stock up.

How about ...
http://www.sportsmanguncentre.co.uk
It's in Exeter. About 70 miles from Frome - but you could buy reloading gear mail order.

What is your ammo allowance on your FAC for .45LC..?Rose wrote:I've just purchased a Winchester .45 underlever and need some ammo - but am having a devil of a job finding a dealer that stocks it ! I live in Wells, Somerset and none of the local RFDs have it.
If its 500 or more, try and get one of your local RFD's to order a slab from Viking Arms. My local RFD gets a slab of 500 rounds of Magtech .45LC Cowboy Action loads in from Viking for myself and another customer who use 45LC.
A slab of 500 is the min order from Viking I believe, so as long as you have a 500 or more allowance they could do this for you.
Richard at Devizes Gunsmiths stocks/sells Magtech Cowboy Action for 357 so he should be able to order a slab of 45LC?
As said, handloading is the ideal way forward, but we aren't all in the the position to do that, me included.

Factory ammo is the fast road to destitution. As Dromia says, you need to reload. In the psitol days, I shot 45 Long Colt for 20 years. I have never fired a factory round.

Dauntsey Guns stock 45LC brass if you are going to load your own.
