No one wants them, so I recon £20.

For a thought exercise, does anyone know what a good example AR Buckland one would fetch? I only ask as I know of a good example that works and get's on target well.

So his name is really that much poison, my god. The worse part is I told him to get one as the handle he put on it would make it easier to use, that and he did look at Anglo Custom one at the time. Plus in the beginning it had to have the barrel changed as buckland put a 7.62x54 barrel on that blew the necks out.

I paid £1400 for an ARB one maybe a year ago.... but that wasn't particularly a good example, and within months I'd p/x'd it for something different.

Jon Francis at CPG Design had a few in various configurations and calibres... I've just checked on the website and hes not showing any of them now.

As Halodin hinted at, there is a bit of a stigma attached to them now... partly the reason i p/x'd mine, that and the fact it didn't shoot particularly straight...

It's shot fine has my friends. He's only not using it as much as his eyesight isn't quite what it used to be. He does have have that railed mount that DSarms make I think (it states it can go on both Metric and Imperial but I think it might still some fettling to fit). If sorted right with the dust cover mount it could become formidable, but he has a Ruger Precision and seems to enjoy the L1A1 mainly as a keepsake). Even with the barrel doing that stuff to the rounds it was accurate, it got sorted and never had another problem. Shame about the stigma. I guess we've only got M14 straight pulls and AR10's for that niche now.

& was a Lithgow/Enfield parts put together.

IMO it's not worth the £1400 because of the ARB name and what he did and now at her majesty's pleasure.. He should keep it if it cycles and is on target ok.

It's not the RFD that's really the problem, it's the rifle and specifically the bloody charging handle that looks like it was taken from an MG42. I can't find a picture of one at the moment to see what else is wrong with it, but as I recall that was the most obvious issue. People who want an L1A1 want it to look original.

Thinking about it, It was a member of one of my clubs that called it a 7.62x54 chamber, now you mention it, sounds more like my friend got the 30-06 chambering. It was corrected as I previously stated. It looks like it might be a while before it's safe to praise the good one's and bury the bad one's. By any chance did the 30-06 mistakes blow out the chambering? My memory is fuzzy but Buckland may have also described the mistaken chambering mistake as 7.62x54 but it's that long ago, maybe 2 or 3 years I'd have to talk to my friend to find out more.

Edit: just reread and realized you said those 30-06 barrels were never used so I'm more than likely correct about the 7.62x54 chambering. It literally made the cartridges go completely straight. I initially thought it was just the charging handle doing it, but after a while it was pointed out by said club member I mentioned. He sorted it free of charge but I had no idea of how bad he could be.

.30-06 = 7.62x63 so he could have had one of those barrels, fireing a .308 in these barrels as the round is shorter the neck would have expanded into the chamber.

This was an early one, seems he got a lot sloppier later on, which among with his funny business with the Parish Councillor led to him serving at HMP as we all know.

You can get one here x British army for around £1000 unfortunately i doint think they are legal in the rest of the UK.
