McAvoy guns advertise a Hornady 140gr SP or a 160gr RN bullet for 6.5mm. Give them a call.

In addition, they also have Speer Deepcurl SP 140gr and Grand Slam SP 140gr bullets.

I use the Hornady 160gr R/N SP in my 6.6 x 53r.
Its as close to the original Dutch Mannlicher round as I am going to find.
Fantastic sectional density makes this a potent little cartridge !
I got mine from SPUD.

Brian, I assume you mean a 6,5x53R? Out of interest what make of brass are you using? This is for a 6,5x54MS
Re: Recommend me 6.5mm 140/160 grain round nose bullet pleas
Yes - I take once fired s+b .303 and trim then resize in 6.5x54ms die.
Even with my ham fisted reloading I am getting 1-1.5" at 100 yards. This should improve on 2nd reload as the cases will match my chamber perfectly after fireforming.
Bertram do cases via Kranks but about £3 each.
The projectiles and ballistics for 6.5x53r and 6.5x54ms are identical.

Re: Recommend me 6.5mm 140/160 grain round nose bullet pleas
I have just found myself a 6.5x54 and am looking forward to getting it out across the fields hence the need for a round nosed 140-160 grain bullet.
Re: Recommend me 6.5mm 140/160 grain round nose bullet pleas
David - is there a special reason for needing a round-nosed bullet for your 6.5x54mm? I had one around 20 years back and had very good results using both 120gr and 140gr Nosler. My Mannlicher-Schönauer had seen very little use and proved to be very accurate both with the built-in peep sight and with its 4x36 Schmidt u. Bender optic.
I still have my reloading data if interested.

It is what the Steyr M1900 was designed for originally and as the rifle is from the same period I would like to replicate things as closely as possible.
Re: Recommend me 6.5mm 140/160 grain round nose bullet pleas
Roger that - the last time I obtained any replicating the original bullets were made by CIL (Canadian Industries Limited) in the late sixties/early seventies.
Do PPU or Sellier & Bellot perhaps produce a 6.5mm bulet of this type.
[edit]
Just a thought - Kynamco offer 6.5x54mmMS ammo albeit with sporting bullets, might be worth asking them if they know of a source.

Re: Recommend me 6.5mm 140/160 grain round nose bullet pleas
The only source of modern manufactured ammunition I am aware of in this country is 140 grain expanding from Kynamco which retails at just over GBP3.00/round On plus side the Kynamco ammunition is Deer legal in England and Scotland, however it is also rather spiteful and certainly not in keeping with the original factory round from the turn of the last century.
