Ok here we go-last weekend I did some testing. This was second time/batch.Various FMJ loads and finaly I was brave enough to shoot ONE pistol load...it is second from the right,165gr colour coated RNFPBB .311 bullet-I used 4.5gr Herco and CCI LR primer.I think next time it will be more powder, just.First from the left is 85gr Tokarev FMJ-but it is .308 and do not know what load to use.Second from the left is .310 Cadet in 125gr swaged. And here is the question?-will it fly from my AK?-knowing that collet in the middle is .320???First from the right is standard 123gr FMJ PPU-slightly longer seating in the case-57mm opposite to standard 55.5mm-also,will it fly better?I used 24.3 gr of AA1680/Lovex but all went low so next time load will be close to 25gr.All of them chambered ok.Also I made discovery about PPU ammo in 7.62x39-for some reason bullets are SEALED in case with black paint or something.I never liked them-always all over the place and min. 7" groups at 100m.So I pulled 10 of them from the case-cleaned sealant,checked/adjusted powder and bullet weight and hey presto!-dropped to 5" group...Remember folks...this is AK...only 12" long barrel...So for now I have more test to do and still on the top is factory Barnaul Hunting FMJ ammo...with occasional flyer...Any input welcome especially regarding pistol loads and lead bullets-for now as gallery rifle up to 50m but with heavy one I am planning to go up to 100m.

Ed Harris has done a good bit of work on this calibre with cast bullets, well worth looking them up if you haven't already.

For what it's worth I shoot my AK indoors and I am using 6gr of N320, same powder I use in my .357 and M1 Carbine. I am lucky enough to be able to use the standard 123gr FMJ bullets as we have no club rules on jacketed bullets.
