Gateofes No1 for Black Powder revolver. I think it's a bit heavy on the paraffin wax, presumably to make it set stiffer in warmer climes, but that makes it a bit fragile in the UK. For my next batch 1 was planning to go for 1 lamb tallow : 1 beeswax : 1/2 paraffin wax.

No, I think you're probably right, it makes the lube too brittle.
Re: homemade bullet lude
I've been playing with making various grease type lubes for a couple of years, using soap as the base. See some of my results on the bullet lube forum over at cast boolits, I an andrew375 on there too. Showing particular promise is a mix of 40 / 40 /20 soap/synthetic engine oil/beeswax. If nothing else it leaves my rifle bores looking shinier than when freshly cleaned.
Before anyone jumps in and says it, I know there is more in engine oil than just oil, things like emulsifiers and anti coking agents but no trouble so far.
The lube in my lubrisizer at the moment is the same as above except using moly grease instead of oil.
For black powder I have yet to find anything to beat vaseline and beeswax. Also good for smokeless but seems to give up when velocities exceed 1800 fps.
There are other lubes you can just buy that are indended for other uses; at the moment I am experimenting with Colron beeswax polish that is applied just like liquid alox. Give it a try. It is not very expensive.
