My collection.

#1 Post by Steve »

This is my current collection (still have a slot to fill).I do like old service rifles so while they might not be as accurate as a dedicated target rifle,i still get a lot of pleasure from shooting and owning them.

From the top:
Winchester 94AE 357 magnum
CZ 511 semi-auto .22LR
Mosin Nagant M91 7.62X54r 1934 (with the hexagonal receiver)
Mauser K98 7.92x57 1944
Lee Enfield No4 mk1 Longbranch 1950
Hatsan Escort 12g semi-auto (dont laugh-its an excellent pigeon gun)
Lanber 12g O/U

The Nagant is a bit battle scarred and could probably do with being refurbished, but im a bit reluctant as its still coated in its original shellac. Its got a number of stamps one of which im told show it as being issued to a Berlin wall guard at some point.Shooting this is instant grin factor due to the recoil which always makes you smile, but could also be damaged facial nerves.Heavy ball ammo is good fun...

Most accurate though has to be the K98.I refinished the wood on it a whille back-i gave it 17 coats of BLO.

Nice collection!

I have to ask, apart from hanging suspended from the ceiling, how did you take that picture?

Just held my phone up in the air while looking at the screen-no special effects or trapeze.

Wide angle phone camera?

Just that when we try to take a picture of a rifle we just can't get the whole rifle in the picture, it is always at an angle.

Nice,,,I love the winchester,,,the .22lr Auto is the same as mine, and I also have a Lanber O/U 12g (Ranger) which was my first shotgun,,had it for years, still use it,,,never failed me to date,, I also have a S/B Baikel 12g hammered, chrome lined barrel, and a 12g sbs Hunter double trigger non ejector, Zastava B/A .223..and a brandnew slot on my renewed FAC for a .243 and mod, must get a photo on here sometime..

The metal isnt white-camera flash reflected! Infact there isnt any blueing at all on the rifle so i always give it a wipe with an oily cloth before storing so that might be what is reflecting the flash so much?

Its a fabulous rifle to shoot though and despite being 67 years old its spot on accurate.

I love my Lanber despite it being just a fixed choke boggo spanish gun because it fits me perfectly.I tried many and this was the only one which felt just right.Might get a friend to refinish the stock though-he refurbed the Enfield i now have. The Winchester is a little fun.
