One of the few parts of my rifle which still retains the original parts is the firing pin and spring.
Several companies offer replacement parts, sexy in colour and fancy in materials, that claim faster lock times, better consistency and of course improved accuracy.
Does anyone have personal experience of improved performance once fitting an after market pin?
I suspect that they are only worth while if and once the original stops working,

Which rifle?
It's not the pace of life that concerns me, it's the sudden stop at the end!

Well I was thinking of the Rem 700 but the same could be said of the 10/22 or the Marlin 1894,

I think that I'd leave the REM for now. I don't think the gains would warrant the work. Use the money for a service as per Laurie's article in TS.
There are good gains in new springs an firing pins in the Marlin. As for the 10/22, once you start pimping that you are on a slippery slope but it is worth it.
