7.62X51 Lapua Brass
I picked up (Literally) some Lapua brass with a 7.62x51 Head stamp this morning, does anyone know if this is still current issue, maybe for the Lapua HPS Ti?

Re: 7.62X51 Lapua Brass
All my recently bought Lapua brass has 308 headstamps on them. I have no idea what Lapua HPS Ti is though.
Re: 7.62X51 Lapua Brass
HPS Ti is the replacement for the HPS which was the Lapua High Performance Sniper which used the 170 Lockbase bullet, the later Ti is supposed to be less temperature sensitive

Re: 7.62X51 Lapua Brass
Interesting. Does the D46 ammunition also have a 7,62x51 headstamp?
Re: 7.62X51 Lapua Brass
Does the headstamp have the Nato compliance cross enclosed in a circle symbol?
Re: 7.62X51 Lapua Brass
They just say 7.62x51 Lapua, are boxer primed and have a primer that has a light satin brown/pink finish.
Re: 7.62X51 Lapua Brass
Davey, I bought some once fired 7.62 Lapua brass like that in the late 80s or early 90s - there was a outfit (or person) down in the West Country whose postal address was Ippelpen or suchlike that occasionally advertised in 'Guns Review' magazine. I think they made 'bullet keyrings' among other things, but obviously bought up ex-police and sometimes major Bisley comp brass.
At the time, somebody told me the NRA had bought a load of it (ie loaded ammo) for issue, but I've no idea if this was accurate. It was very heavy, more like much military stuff than the Norma or Winchester 308 that I normally used. Back then, Lapua was just starting to gain a reputation for its brass, but was much better known for its bullets. I used to regularly load lock-base 150s and 185 D46s in .308 and .30-06 respectively.

Re: 7.62X51 Lapua Brass
I remember the NRA selling Lapua .308 match ammo. It used the B448 150gr lockbase bullet. The early batches had a 7.62x51 headstamp, later this changed to .308 Win. So it looks like Lapua discontinued the 7.62x51 headstamp on commercial ammo at least 25 yrs ago, possibly to avoid confusion with NATO-spec military ammo.

Dave, thinking about it I have seen this but only on some SP sub sonic rounds that were loaded through AI. I have one, but it is the only time I have seen it.
Re: 7.62X51 Lapua Brass
Maggot, I will send you another then, do you want me to include a Lap sub with it?
