Re: Ooh, matron! A new BullPup chasis for the Remington 700
Many moons ago I shot a bullpup Mauser-based French-made Crapahut rifle in 7x57mm fitted with a side-discharging muzzle brake. This was not a pleasant rifle to shoot either for the shooter and the others on the firing point who usually got a face-full of sand.
The only other manual bullpup I have shot was a Sommer und Ockenfuß which was a straight-pull bolt action which was operated by sliding the pistol-grip forward and back - this was qite accurate and pleasant to shoot.
I too would be interested to see a K31-based bullpup.

I think I've worked out why it was utterly 'orribleDW58 wrote:Many moons ago I shot a bullpup Mauser-based French-made Crapahut rifle....

Actually not - it was niceley made, just horrible to shoot because of the short barrel/muzzle blast.saddler wrote:I think I've worked out why it was utterly 'orribleDW58 wrote:Many moons ago I shot a bullpup Mauser-based French-made Crapahut rifle....

Enough of the French bashing, what about the 40,000 plus French rear guard at Dunkirk who fought to defend the allied troops during the evacuation?saddler wrote:I think I've worked out why it was utterly 'orribleDW58 wrote:Many moons ago I shot a bullpup Mauser-based French-made Crapahut rifle....

Well said Ovenpaa.
Tackb, probably not. Guns are with an RFD right now (had to sell two of them) and I'm really not able to get to the range. I'm hoping I'll be able to get the rifles back in a couple of months, but they will have been away for a long time by then.

If the laws were different a 49/56 would be great, aren't those the basis for the current french marksman rifle?froggy wrote:Enough of the French bashing,

I shot a 49/56 (7.62x51mm version) in Germany many moons ago - I liked it, nice semi-auto battle rifle.

Ah yes, I shot the MAS rear locker a while ago and bitterly regret not buying it at the time.froggy wrote:non-non... bring it on !! Those French rifles are all rubbish ...
