Why? As long as it isn't a historically important or rare rifle, it's his and he can do what he likes with it. I would have thought it was an ideal candidate for a sound moderator and loading for subs is super easy.

There are YouTube videos of a Marlin being threaded, a mod fitted and subs fired through it.. Holy hell its quiet.
