Well if they would publish the FACTS there would be no questions - a home made firearm = ILLEGAL!!!!!!!!!!!!
Gun debate in Britain tends to focus on what is happening in the U.S., but the shooting of MP Jo Cox in West Yorkshire on Thursday has raised homegrown questions about permission and licensing.![]()

Any physical attack on a British politician would be extremely unusual, but that Cox was shot at least two times with what has been described by eyewitnesses as a “makeshift” or “old-fashioned” gun, is even more rare. The U.K. has strict gun laws that make getting a legal firearm a rigorous process.
According to the most recent statistics, there were 1,338,399 shotguns licensed in England and Wales last year, and more than 500,000 firearms of other types also licensed. There were about 582,494 licensed shotgun owners and 153,603 licensed for other firearms, almost all of whom lived in rural areas and who used their guns for sport or to protect their farmland.

Not the most accurate of comments..............and 153,603 licensed for other firearms, almost all of whom lived in rural areas and who used their guns for sport or to protect their farmland.
Re: British gun laws - Make your comments people
Last I read the gun used was homemade, presumably will info obtained from a book - as the news liked to link the two together, (apparently he bought a book on the subject).
If true (and we may never know) are we legislating agaist books now? If the person who commited this crime did so with a make-shift, home made weapon, then all the Section 1, 2 and 5 limitations would not have helped.

Home made and three shots do not stack up easily. The one very poor image reminded me of a chopped down pump action rimfire rifle and by the length alone it would be section 5.
There are some well published cases of prosecutions for ownership of literature alone with the Anarchists Cook Book and High Low Boom being cited in the 90's when the webbynet first reached the masses.

Journalist's motto...believe nothing you read and only half of what you see. The only thing we know for certain is that the nutter had a big knife...blame will shortly be apportioned to social workers, health workers etc. Meanwhile the "remain" campaign will be using this poor woman's awful death as a stick to beat the brexit campaigners.

Here are my comments on British gun laws:
The laws are fair.
The laws are sensible.
I have access to a wide variety of firearms for recreational use.
I don't want US style laws here.
I don't want firearms to be allowed for self-defence in this country.
All of the authorities I've dealt with in the last 10 years have been friendly, helpful, professional and have in no way tried to stop me having access to firearms.
Others may disagree or have different experiences.
On the Jo Cox shooting I find it hard to believe anybody could just make a "gun" at home that could fire more than one shoot.

I don't think the laws are fair or sensible, yes we do have access to a variety of firearms for recreational use but why should we not be able to have semi-auto centrefire rifles and handguns as per other European countries?.
Semi-auto shotgun with slug?....Yes......semi-auto rifle (over .22)......No, how is that sensible or fair?.
