Maybe we should play them at their own game. List EVERY piffling little thing using reams of additional paper tacked to their form until they get fed up with too much information.
That could backfire heavily. A 3 month wait for a grant could be 6 months :bad:

Thames Valley. It's on the grant/renewal form.

I suspect with all these new intrusions that is likely to happen anyway. TVP took three months for a simple renewal last time.

I've sent off a question to David at BASC to see what they say.
Please let us know what they think about this. My renewal is not due for six months but I've had the renewal letter because TVP has a backlog and I'd like to send it off soon.

Maybe a generic response like:

I have attended hospitals on a number of occasions for consultations and procedures not related to conditions relevant to this application.

Where are people getting hospital visits, referrals etc from?? As far as I can see it just asks for the details of your current GP surgery and then any others you've been registered to in the past 10 years? 5mith

That said, I find this OTT, especially the speeding thing. Are they now just allowed to start adding anything they want to the application form without any discussion with the people (or rather the 'representative' organizations) who this would affect?

I would love to know how robustly these changes were questioned by the likes of BASC. I suspect the answer would be "not very much". 8-)

Had a reply from David this morning,

"Having looked again I think its important to recognise that this only relates to conditions that must be declared ie:

Relevant medical conditions which must be disclosed include, for example:
Acute Stress Reaction or an acute reaction to the stress caused by a trauma
Suicidal thoughts or self harm
Depression or anxiety
Dementia
Mania, bipolar disorder or a psychotic illness
A personality disorder
A neurological condition: for example, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinsons or Huntingtons
diseases, or epilepsy
Alcohol or drug related abuse"

So things like penis reductions, removal of foreign objects from bodily cavities etc. don't need to be mentioned (phew!) :good:

You'd think that. However, if the applicant has nothing to declare then it appears the police are just going to get in touch with your GP regardless - just as they will if you do declare something - no matter how long ago that may have been. Furthermore when I enquired about this issue I was told I had to tell them about high blood pressure. Mine had risen due to enforced inactivity / weight increase following operations on my legs. And even though I'm back to normal fhaving recovered from my operation I'll still be expected to reference this on my next renewal - or so I was told by my GP. So what else do they consider 'relevant'?

In the long run I foresee unintended consequences, possibly serious. A lot of people who may in future feel they need to speak to their GP regarding some of those items on the list may decide not to seek help and try to muddle through for fear of losing access to their sport.

The issue is: who is qualified to declare it? If I saw a GP in private practise abut a skin condition (and my NHS GP knew nothing of it) would the police accept my judgement that the private healthcare consultation has no bearing on my fitness to have an FAC? And therefore I won't provide the details of this second GP?
