Brattonsound Titan RT -20

#1 Post by Countryman »

Does anyone have one of these?

I had one delivered today. Strikes me as odd the key holes are at different heights.

Are yours?

Cheers Daryll but they cannot be as the internal compartments are both at the top.

It's like the doors are flipped to hang on opposite sides and they forgot the locks are not central.

This is a Grand of kit. I think it looks s***!

I have a left and a right opening Brattonsound. They just turn the doors upside down as far as I can tell, as I have to turn the keys in opposite directions on each one. They're not right next to each other though so I've never checked the heights of the keyholes.

Well that's a wonderful bodge!

Can you have a look at the keyhole height on yours and let me know?

I've used Brattonsound for well over 20 years and "bodge" isn't something I ever associated with them.

Yes, two RT-10's, one left and one right handed opening drilled and supplied with 4 bolts so they can be secured together.

How infuriating! In my little OCD world, it'd drive me crazy to have the locks at different heights when it's sold as double wide cabinet. Having just searched for the product/publicity pictures, I can't find any with both doors closed, so you'd have no incling that it would ship like that. I'm a Brattonsound fan, but this is very dissapointing from them given you've forked out best part of £1k

I'm with you. That would be right on my mammaries!
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

This is bugging me now.

The symmetry OCD is strong this morning :-/

The safes are quite easily drilled, I've made additional holes in my Brattonsounds for various purposes. So you could very carefully drill and file two new key slots, one in each door, to match the horizontal height of the opposing door. These new key slots would be completely cosmetic, but you'd have a matching pair of doors. Much easier to achieve by working on them on their backs before fixing to the wall.
