With Chicago we have a very clear picture of where it does not matter if you believe in the right to carry or what laws the state has, as far as I know Chicagoans have a right to carry however trust you me if you lived there you would want to carry as well.

So basically gun control does not work in Chicago, as mentioned earlier the criminals have stopped listening and gone feral.
Look the numbers up, mainly black male committing the crime/murders.
Police officers are being gunned down and no one cares.

Mmmm... I'll bow out of this one. My attitiude to gun laws and gun culture is different to others. To me guns are a hobby and that's all. I don't want guns to defend myself nor do I want others to have guns to defend themselves. Others disagree - I'm not saying I'm right and others are wrong.

There has been a lot lives saved in the USA by law abiding citizens using their firearms for protection ! You won't see it reported in the main stream media as it goes against they agenda ! If You google it you will find quite few reports ! Much of Europe self protection (in the home )is considered a good reason for owning a pistol . Over here it's a hobby etc

That's pretty darn selfish isn't it... Gimme a good reason why people should not be able to defend themselve..apart from the liberal mantra of it makes you a better person by (say) being raped and killed?

In the US it's a hobby too! Some countries allow handguns for self defence but as a "hobby", it doen't exist.

Anyway, that kind of debate is NOT for this thread. We are not debating UK defensive firearms ownership because it will neve rhappen,we allowed ourselves to be rendered defenceless so we have to live (or die) with that.

Using a firearm in the uk for defending yourself against attackers in your home is not against the law ! ( criminal law act ) There has been a few cases of fac / SGC holders doing so and haven't been charged ! However it's not advisable as most likely you will end up jail or atleast lose your ticket in most case. Even using bass ball bat will get you in trouble

It's funny how we already have a ton of laws relating to abuse of firearms, just like the USA.

The only trouble is the media who spread the lies and fear and never miss a dirty trick when there's a crime in the USA.

If the same happend in south America or some African country (and it does in much greater quantity too) they wouldn't care!

To have any relevance in a European debate, what I'd find interesting to know is the number of truly "criminal" gun crimes commited by the US CCW permit holders (which is probably the equivalent of our FAC in terms of access restriction) versus the number of legitimate use of the CCW firearms, ie : how many criminal actions commited by true legit firearms vs how many life were saved/rape avoided etc...
