Pistol shooting anyone ?

Re: Pistol shooting anyone ?
I would be very interested next time you folks go. I only have a shotgun certificate however... I am guessing this may well count me out even though I have shot pistol in the US..? Your informed opinion would be well received.
Re: Pistol shooting anyone ?
If HRM's Constabulary trust you to own a shot-gun I guess we can trust you to use a pistol for a W-E

Re: Pistol shooting anyone ?
Well that sounds promising, if it is a case of trust rather than a legal requirement then I will just have to live up to expectations on the day! Thank you! Please keep me posted re any future trips.
Re: Pistol shooting anyone ?
The Czech legislation authorises anybody to go to a club, rent a gun and shoot either unsupervised if holder of a Czech FAC or must be supervised in the absence of one.
When I organise a W-E, in accordance to local legal requirements, an authorised supervising Czech RO is always present. However, the same way, that here or in France, I would not put a gun, or any other potentially dangerous item into the hands of somebody I don't trust, I insist on a club membership, shot gun-licence or FAC for someone to join us.
I appreciate it is not a legal requirement but I feel more confortable that way as I dont think anybody would want to spend 2 days/shoot next to someone that the UK authorities dont trust, for whatever reason, with a firearm.

Thanks for the clarification.
seems like I fit into one of your three criteria with my sgc which I would be happy to bring along.
I have printed off the forms and am going to apply to join the NRA tomorrow as Bisley is not too far for me. their training course offering for membership looks really comprehensive so perhaps when the time comes around again I will have a bit more experience too, and a club membership.
I did email the chap at phoenix Horsham but I haven't heard back from him. That is the closest club to me.

Yves thanks for the PM. As a newb I can't reply directly. I have asked Christel if this restriction on my account can be lifted so I can speak with you directly.froggy wrote:If HRM's Constabulary trust you to own a shot-gun I guess we can trust you to use a pistol for a W-E
if not, I will reply properly shortly when I get access through the usual channels.

Re: Pistol shooting anyone ?
Another great weekend in the Czech Republic thanks to Froggy (aka Rico McPato) and his Czechmates, I had a lane to myself for two whole days, and lots of ammunition to send down it. An eclectic mix of guns, way too many to remember, some old, some newer. I rather liked the S&W .357 magnum, very accurate, the semi-auto Uzi, also quite accurate, but spent a lot of time with the Glock 17, even if I came to prefer the CZ 75 trigger. Honourable mention to the Sig, the XDM and the Spanish Star 9mm 1911 copy.
All mine for the weekend, plus gongs and other targets on the open range

Semi-auto Uzi - heavy and accurate

Glock, nice to shoot, but possibly not the best of triggers, very low slide that bites thumbs

Sig, nicer trigger but not (for me) as accurate as the Glock

CZ, best trigger of the 9mm pistols available at the weekend

Honourable mention for the XDM, quite light, nice trigger, sits in my hand almost as well as the Glock
