Selling ammunition and the law

I see adverts for ammo that is for sale and the price says posted?

What is the law with regards to selling ammo and posting?
Is it not the same as selling a rifle?

Regards

Nope
NOT the same at all

It's possibly worse!
Hazardous goods, so need to go via specialist courier...and the prices have just gone up substantially.

Where are these adverts?

I've seen a few auction houses sell "lots" that included ammo of various types & they happily stated that they'll post at cost, etc.

By 'post' I expect they mean in the generic sense of the word without bothering the reader with all the ins and outs of the legal stuff they will take on in shipping goods to the RFD.

Yes....you could think that that is what they mean.

I've met people that HAVE received live ammo/primers/powder through the regular mail.
Some sellers/RFDs put profits ahead of minor technicalities!
Some are completely ignorant of HOW things should be done, and don't bother to educate themselves.

Allow a minimum of GBP48.00 for shipping of ammunition in any quantity (Legally) I heard recently that the only courier currently shipping ammunition will no longer carry expanding so it makes things even more interesting.

I doubt the profit on a few rounds, or even a few 100 rounds, will be the driving factor here.
Most likely, as you say, the sender is unaware of the finer points and restrictions.

Good deals with Paul101, Charlotte the flyer, majordisorder, Charlie Muggins, among others. Thanks everybody.

Thats around what I've been paying to have ammo shipped from RFD to RFD, works out cheaper than petrol money if I was to collect it myself.
