Howa 1500 Short Action.

#1 Post by Sandgroper »

I've been doing some research on my RWS Model 89 and it seems that it and the Howa 1500 may be be one in the same. For example, my rifle has a Howa branded stock and from what I've found out it appears that the distance between the action screws (7.25") are the same.

So could anybody owning a short actioned Howa 1500 (204 or 223) do me a favour and measure the dimensions of floor plate (either fixed or DM) and post them here for me? If I'm lucky, they'll match! fingerscrossed

thankssign

You're wanting to fit an ATI detachable mag conversion, aren't you...?

Howa, RWS and Weatherby are all made by Howa, so I'm lead to believe and I have read that guys in the US have used the "Howa" conversion on their Weatherbys when they have fitted a Howa stock.
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

You guessed it, Simon!
I knew about the Howa/Weatherby connection but wasn't sure about RWS. I just wanted to see if it could be done without having to get a new stock for it at this point in time.

Funnily enough, I've just received one of the conversion kits, but for a Remington 700. They're not half bad and considering the price, bloody excellent for a conversion to a detachable mag. Unfortunately for me, mine was for a project that's not going to work now....!

That's a pity about the project but good to know that you're impressed with the kit. Now if I could only get one for my K98 sporter then I'd be really happy!
