Surplus in Somerset
I'm looking to get some rusky boom 7.62x54r but can't seem to find anywhere local that sells military surplus.
Anybody know somewhere in Somerset that does?

Re: Surplus in Somerset
All dried up.
Last stocks with the importers sold a couple of days before my variation came back.
Embargo on Putin & his evil empire means no more likely to come from Russia anytime soon.
Pity...but a good reason to roll your own.
.303 FMJ for cheap plinking fodder in whatever cases you can find.
I'll be using Nobel Rifle 1 for powder.
Gallery loads....see Dromia....cheap lead bullet & Red Dot or similar

Cheap 54R is around however I am not sure if it is in Somerset, dependant on where you are in Somerset try Chris at Helston Gunsmiths, if nothing else it is a nice drive and the 54R should be no more than GBP35-40/100
Re: Surplus in Somerset
That kind of confirms my suspicions that a road trip is in order.......already got my 115g soupcans from dodgyrog for my gallary loads and hoping to use the Kranks 174g offerings for something with a bit more legs. Got Titegroup on the shelf for gallary loads and H4895 for the proper stuff. Just waiting for dies or lee loader to come into stock in Kranks.

Re: Surplus in Somerset
Also it is worth bearing in mind the HAZMAT shipping is now a minimum of GBP48·00 which your RFD needs to cover.

Most of the UKs 54r comes in via Slovakia, which has millions of 54r, and plenty of it across Europe so plenty of it still out there. Also despite whats going on in the Ukraine they are still punting out Mosins and 54r to European wholesalers.Perhaps importers will use the sanction thing to bump prices up.

Give a man a gun and he can rob a bank.....give a man a bank and he can rob the world!.
More than a vested interest in 7.62x54r!
