Out of kilter mauser bolt.

Out of kilter mauser bolt.
I had one of my latest acquisitions at the range to day. The main reason was to check the height and fit of a set of scope rail blocks machined to fit in place of the original target sight and to do some measuring up of barrel length etc. Anyway moving on rapidly when I took it out of the bag I could not get the bolt to open at all. I dismantled the rifle and eventually managed to remove the bolt. I replaced the bolt then closed and opened it a few times before putting the rifle away. I put the bolt into my range bag then drove home.
I have just tried to fit the bolt into the rifle and it wont go it looks like the rear safety thingy is out of alignment. How could that happen when all I did was drop it in my bag to go home. Is this a common fault with these units I don't think I have encountered this problem before with previously owned Mausers. I guess it is a you tube jobby on how to fettle it.

Easy fix Dave.
You will need:
1/2 stone mash hammer.
Angle grinder.
B@stard file.
Assorted jubilee clips various sizes.
Hollow ground screw drivers to fit above jubilee clips.
Then go at it, however please note that this fix will only work so long as you haven't a clue what you are doing.

Do you ever wish you had not started a project that you thought was going to be oh so simple and interesting. Only to find the component that should be the least issue turns into a night mare. Grrrrrrrrrrrr
