Cost of ammo and components
Since 2010 the prices of Copper, Zinc and Lead have fallen 50%, 30% and 28% in dollar terms. It would be interesting to see how the price of ammunition and its components has fared over the same period.

I hadn't realised the price of raw materials had dropped by such a large percentage!
Where car fuel is concerned there is always a large lobby group making sure the price goes down at the pumps, I guess we do not have that power as uk shooters.

Re: Cost of ammo and components
I heard that Lapua have reduced some of their prices.
Re: Cost of ammo and components
I'd imagine the drop in raw materials has been more than made up in the hugely increased costs of shipping "hazmat" stuff. A friend in the States said that this was just starting to come through to them. $165 to ship some powder and primers 40 miles, allegedly.
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

I bet not many sources will drop their prices
I was staggered at the price I was shown for a well known Nosler 223 bullet last week (popular with CSR) from a source in yerp. Even with shipping they work out cheaper than the 55gr PPU bullets I use for grouping practice

Re: Cost of ammo and components
Maybe most of what is bought was made from the expensive materials which will be reflected in the current price - I am sure that theory isn't quite right though if it's Milsurp that was made ages ago...
Plus, they do have us over a barrel ref pricing, it's not as if there's lots of choice is there..don't buy - don't shoot.

Re: Cost of ammo and components
The cost of airgun pellets just keeps going up, so if the price of lead has dropped then somebody is cashing in very nicely.
I haven't seen any change in rimfire/CF ammo prices, but perhaps they'll come down. I won't be holding my breath, though.

Re: Cost of ammo and components
The bloody prices went up when some RFDs (or even some s*** shooters) realised the activities stateside were giving an opportunity to play the old supply an demand game.
I know of one RFD very close to us who binned supplying bullets as he could not compete, make a profit, and sleep at night
Its a s*** thing to do to other shooters and the trade in general and I have personally stopped using people when I spotted this going on.
