found my latest acquisition at the gun show on Saturday
its an Uberti Remington 1858 navy in .36
seems to be in good working condition (trigger on it feels excellent)
only oddity is that the front sight has been replaced with a screwdriver head(presumably so it would shoot poa for the previous owner)
bow i just need to go buy all the other gear that goes with shooting black powder

The front sight certainly looks as though it has been relpaced, but the screwdriver head form is the correct one for this model, although it should be radiused rather than flat on top.

after a simple Google it seems your right, I'd never actually seen an 1858 with a dovetail cut (only on the competition models in .44)
because of the condition around the sight it didn't seem like much of a jump to assume it was a screwdriver head lol
but hey if it shoots where i aim it without adjustment I wouldn't care if it was from a screwdriver(its only a replica after all)

Had a bit of a wait for this one to come in from Ireland.

Accuracy International Mk1 AE, fitted with a 30" Truflite Ultramatch Barrel by Fergal White of Ireland Custom Guns. Never seen a barrel of this profile. Has a 20 MOA rail and I will put the Bushnell Elite 6500 on it from my last AICS Remington. Came with an adjustable cheek piece and target adjustable shoulder pad and a heap of spacers.

Finally got the real thing.

Nice rifle, I have shot an AE for many years, it is currently sporting a 26" Border chambered in 6,5x47 however I have a 7,62x51 Border to go back on when I feel it is time for a change. Beware your rear hand position of shooting off a squeeze bag as it is very easy for the lower rear of the thumb hole section to smack you on the left hand just behind the thumb and it hurts after a while...

I am a big fan of Truflite and have a .284 Barnard with an Ultramatch, it works well.

Glad to hear it. Took a flyer on this one but I think it's a keeper. I loved my Remington in the AICS but was struggling for the 1000 yard plus stuff.

I hadn't seen a real AE for sale for ages.

Looking forward to some load development now.

I have a Harris Bipod but wondered about upgrading this. Any ideas?
