Now I wish someone had told that before I fitted mine.

I did wonder if taking the lever off would de-tension the spring but I have fitted the wave lever and it hasn't seem to have affected the release action and the lever springs back as normal.

Presumably if I needed to put extra tension back on it I would just need to loosen the lever and clear the stops and take it back a full turn.

No instructions with the pack. If the opportunity arises and there is an SGC person about will ask up at show.

The newer ones might be different but i was told when buying it in no uncertain terms that if the pin was allowed to go free, the gun would need to go back to SGC for a complete tear down and re-tension of the spring. :bad:

Slightly off topic....

Those with the lever release guns, has anyone fitted an "Accu-wedge" to one? I saw a lever release .223 in my local place and there was a fair amount of wobble between the lower and upper receiver. When opened, it looked like there wasn't enough room to get a wedge under the locking pin, but above the lever release....
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Guns dont kill people. Dads with pretty Daughters do...!

You could always use one of those tensioning pin sets, they lock in place and stop wobble.

I have only seen the GunTrader photos of the one I will be picking up on Saturday and they only show the right hand side of the rifle so I can only assume that it will have the standard lever fitted. I have now tried two of these rifles and I was ok with the standard lever.

Last month when I spoke to Bob about the option of fitting the wave lever at a later date, he told me that it was best to include it at the time of the build due to the issue with the coiled springs...... I don't recall if he mentioned if he sold the wave levers separately or only as a supply and fit item by him either at the time of the build or subsequent service. I will see how I get on with the standard lever. If he does sell them separately then I guess it is worth giving it a try oneself and save on the cost of shipping it down to SGC which with a service, RFD fees and diesel to my local dealer would be in the region of £150 excluding the new lever. I wouldn't attempt a thing without first talking to Bob.

Could I actually do it myself? I think so.... I have fitted happy triggers to both my Marlin under levers.357 & .45-70 and Taran Tactical shell lifters and other bits to my two Benelli shotguns.... Etc etc. My Dad has been doing his own Gunsmithing for 70 years and I've learnt a lot from him over the years... It's actually got to the stage were I stripe and fix his guns for him now that he is almost 82 and struggles with fiddly bits / strong springs etc.

Have a look at the Vortex Strike Eagle scope as it works well on mine.
It just so happens that is exactly the scope that I will be collecting at the show :)

I do not think their is enough room for a accu-wedge. My 9mm has very little wobble but a piece of hard rubber cut to fit in the same place would also stop wobble.
I used a plumbers fibre & rubber washers to stop the 2 piece buffer breaking the roll pin it still moves but does not bottom out on the pin.

Wave leaver is listed on Bobs site to buy £63

As we are asking questions
1 Has any one changed the buffer or know what others will fit
2 any recommendations for a new charging handle that will fit

Don't know about the buffer tube but any charging handle fits AFAIK. Over the course of having mine I put two aftermarket ones on without issue.

For the 9mm LR, any aftermarket CH should fit, Gunfighter seems to be the one of choice, however if you go for the 5.56 LR they don't fit.

The C H has been worked to remove the bottom of the front end and the angle has been machined down to reduce the shape, size and angle.

You could swap out the latch as far as I can see, but that will likely be as much as you could alter, so at £144 for a Bob special T BAR not cheap.

Buffer tubes, I had mine fitted with MIL spec on both builds, as Bob wanted to supply with Commercial, again supplied by him, he would not entertain the idea of me sourcing and sending in the tube, the spring or any of that part, even though they are very easy to get and WAAAYY cheaper.

I can see no reason why any mil spec or commercial tube wouldn't fit as the threads are industry standard, unless of course a builder ism has snook in to limit meddling....

That's the problem, he's got form for it. He purposely fitted non-standard foreends/barrel nuts (to the original ones at least) so you'd have to go to him for a replacement as the normal AR barrel nut wrenches don't fit. He was quite flabbergasted when I told him I'd already replaced mine using just a hammer and punch green55
