Durham
I phoned them today as I am buying a Marlin 44 and pxing my winchester, so I asked if instead of selling my gun to the RFD then sending FAC in for 1-4-1 and then driving 2 counties away again to pick it up, could I bring FAC in and get an empty variation changed to another 44 lever action rifle to do it in one go and they said yes. Bring it in morning, they will change it while I wait and then I can do the 1-4-1 later and get my original back !!! goodjob :good: :good:
Nice one Durham

wallhead :bad: wallhead :bad: wallhead wallhead wallhead
what was I thinking, of course it wasn't going to happen like that, despite being told by the lady on the phone, after checking with someone else, that it would be ok to do......what I actually got was a bit of a lecture about unused variations " not actually" being needed and a vague threat that I might not be deemed to need it if I asked for it back as I hadn't filled it !!!
Or if I paid for a new variation I could have the 2nd .44 rifle but would have to wait until she had finished doing the ones that had come in the post before I applied (even though it had been arranged) hanging around for an hour or two but it still could be done.
When asked why I hadn't filled all the variations I had asked for (which again might seem to suggest I didn't actually need them) I pointed to the woman behind the wheel of my car outside and told the lady that if it came down to it , I was more scared of what she would say if I bought 10 guns in one go , than what the chief constable would say if I didn't. wallhead I am after all just a working bloke and have to save up for my toys.
Still can't complain much , Durham 2016 are a bloody sight better than Durham 1996 were, and although not very helpful , the ladies were not obnoxious and patronising as has been my experience on many occasions in the past.
so , I bought my Marlin but dont get to caress it and whisper sweet nothings to it until at least nest week.
Nil desperandum
