help with valuation

#1 Post by the running man »

Someone has offer me an l42 7.62 rifle with the crate and cleaning accessories.....only thing is it does not have its scope, now I'm told that damages the complete set value, the rifle is in great condition and I'm told it's very accurate....

So can anyone help me out with some ball park figures?

"...it's scope..."
Which one?

Initially issued with the re-calibrated No.32 Mk.3 (L1A1), later years saw the L42 used with all sorts of commercial scopes: S&B 6x42, etc.

Price? Trying to keep track with L42 "values" could cause nose-bleeds.
Anything from £1,000 to £2,500....or double....though I know of an importer sourcing complete sets for under £1,000 which then sell for £5,000

As with lots of things....it's worth what you value it at as a possesion/tool....but it should hold/increase in value whatever you pay. (Which is part of the problem with some kit today...over inflation)

Complete L42 kits now are fetching around £10k a couple of years ago £7k was outrageous , L1A1 scopes are very scarce however sporting services have some S&B 6x42 for £800 and there are some repro 26mm brackets available for around £400.
All depends what you have been offered it for.
