I'm sure they destroyed all the Ammo handed in though.
If I remember Colin Greenwood, (Guns Review Mag), deliberatly blew up his Mini14 before he handed it in.

If it comes to another ban some kind of civil disobedience should be tried, don't just refuse to hand in but try something like " Sorry Sir, I sold that gun ages ago, did you not get the letter I sent? It was ages ago and my memory is rubbish, never mind just check your database I'm sure it will turn up"lapua338 wrote:If you don't hand them in they won't have the resources to collect them all!dromia wrote:When we are give a date by plod to hand all our guns in.
I propose civil disobedience because we should not acknowledge the legitimacy of their injudicious regulations.
The police will be overburdened for years tracking down otherwise law-abiding citizens refusing to comply with confiscations (tens of thousands of people are likely in the Czech Republic alone as civil disobedience is already being vocally advocated) and some citizens will simply purchase illegal firearms, which are the same guns that the EU Commission claims to protect us from.
Perhaps not that much of a risk I reckon. When I handed over my pistols the officers were completely without any idea of firearms or safety, for that matter. When I passed my S&W Mod 29 over to one officer, recognizing it as "Dirty Harry's gun", he then proceeded to wave it around the room playing with it.25Pdr wrote:It was also rumoured that at the time of the hand in(s) that some people not wanting to part with a cherished gun simply obtained a similar de act version, changed the ser. no. and handed that in instead.
A bit dodgy if you ask me, the thought of even one night in nick terrifies me, never mind five years.
There was a firearms officer up here who filled his cartridges with explosives!25Pdr wrote:One member confessed he filled 222 Rounds with Bullseye and handed them in.![]()

In 1997 some 59,000 handgunners who were to lose their sport and handguns said the same as you. What did we do? We meekly went to the hand in points and gave up our handguns having said the " police can't arrest us all". If we lose again we will do the same no doubt. Although, in this case we are talking about the whole of Europe but, I doubt there will be those in the UK who engage in civil disobedience. Reports from what I have read is that the legislation is to be discussed in the EU Parliament in the Spring/ Summer, a 'what if question'. What if the referendum results in a UK exit one assumes the new law will not apply to us ????lapua338 wrote:If you don't hand them in they won't have the resources to collect them all!dromia wrote:When we are give a date by plod to hand all our guns in.

I think there is a line though. Back then pistol shooters knew they would be offered the same amount of slots for rifles as they held for pistols. So although we were angry about it we knew that we could still continue shooting albeit in a different format. There was a strong incentive to keep our noses clean and refrain from getting a criminal record. What makes you think it will be some and not all !HALODIN wrote:If I'm instructed to hand some of my rifles in, then that's exactly what I will do and I'll do it on time.
