A bullet, n, is the bit that is fired out of a gun. If it is cast from lead and sent on its way naked, it's frequently referred to as a boolit. If it is wrapped up in a nice smart shiny jacket it is usually called a bullet. Both work well, both can hurt you. Bullets have a nose (the round or pointy bit at the front), a bearing (the middle bit) and a base or tail (the bit at the back). No bullet or boolit has a head.

The cartridge case is the brass (usually) or steel (for the proletariat) bit that holds the bullet (or boolit), and its associated powder and primer, prior to firing. The bit at the bottom of the case is actually the head. That's where you'll find the headstamp. The headstamp tells you where the case was assembled, for example at the Tula or Random Green arsenals.

The fully assembly of a bullet (or boolit), powder, primer and case is called a cartridge, or sometimes a round. It's not actually round, more cylindrical really with a point, but that's not the point.

FFS.....who gives a toss, he knows what he means as do we but oh the power. Its no wonder people walk when they go in search of some info and are served this sort of dross.

Out of that lot we get one or two posts with something useful in them, the rest a virtual willy waiving contest demonstrating just how clever we are by knowing that the bit that goes down the range is called a bullet...genius, I really feel humbled. Not

There's no easy way round this. You need to try different bullets and see what works. PPU are pupular because they are cheap, but that does not mean that a well sorted PPU bullet cannot be competitive in a rifle that likes them.
