Re: Meopta scopes
Meopta used to be shootings best kept secret, they aren't sawarski quality but they are ziess and s+b quality in my opinion.....it took me a few years but I have mostly meopta on all my guns now....go try one out somewhere...
When someone says "it's not about the money" you know what? it probably is all about money!
Re: Meopta scopes
As the man says a well kept secret for many years and better than Weaver or Vortex. Though I wouldn't say that they are as anywhere as good as the better quality Zeiss scopes but much better than their Duralyt budget range. Unfortunately Meopta also started producing lower quality scopes too for the cheaper end of the market much the same as Zeiss did so you need to choose your model carefully.the running man wrote:Meopta used to be shootings best kept secret, they aren't sawarski quality but they are ziess and s+b quality in my opinion.....it took me a few years but I have mostly meopta on all my guns now....go try one out somewhere...

I am not sure about the lower end Meopta scopes but they always used Schott glass for their lenses on the better scopes which is the same high quality glass that Swarovski, Kahles and Schmidt & Bender use. Schott is allegedly the best glass bar none for optics.

Re: Meopta scopes
As well as riflescopes, Meopta make staggeringly good "high end" spotting scopes. I'd try and get a look through the new 6-24x56 model.
Many people are influenced by "brand name" and fashion, even in shooting..........
You really don't need to spend a kings ransom on a scope used solely for target shooting.

Schott glass is also used in IOR scopes, which are also another hidden secret in the optic world.Chapuis wrote:I am not sure about the lower end Meopta scopes but they always used Schott glass for their lenses on the better scopes which is the same high quality glass that Swarovski, Kahles and Schmidt & Bender use. Re: Meopta scopes
Chances are, the European scopes all follow a similar pattern, and the individual lenses are probably all produced at the same plant.........Carl Zeiss?
Who, incidentally, now make eyewateringly expensive (and brilliant) prime camera lenses for the likes of Nikon etc.

Re: Meopta scopes
Meopta have made spotting scopes for Zeiss and Leica. With mine you can see 6mm bullet holes at 600yds.
