What is stated below allegedly comes from a UK police force's firearms licensing review meeting, we believe this to be a summary;"
This newsletter is specific to the European Commissions proposals rather than than the FLD advisory group meeting. It has misrepresented the content of the European Commission's proposals in several ways:

1. Ban all automatic and semi-automatic weapons
It is explicitly stated that the proposal is to ban all semi-automatic firearms which resemble firearms with fully automatic mechanisms.

2. Ban all “military looking” weapons.
See above – this would not necessarily include air guns in the UK, there are in fact no airguns with rifled barrels and semi-automatic mechanisms available. It may affect Airsoft at present, although this, as with many of the proposals, is very unclear.

3. The main purpose of the original EC proposals (before the cynical amendments made post Paris), was introduce a deactivation standard across Europe – ostensibly bringing all deactivations under a standard similar to the UK's. There are no plans within the UK at present that I'm aware of to amend current deactivation standards. Certainly nothing that's: “being forced through very quickly”.

I appreciate the call-to-action from this club committee member. However, what's not helpful is the inaccuracy and misinformation in his letter.

OK So I'm going to lose my FAL .308/7.62, my M14 EBR .308/7.62 and my Spikes Tactical .22LR. FFS ****

European Directive on Firearms

1. Ban all automatic and semi-automatic weapons. To the UK this means anyone with an auto shotgun or .22RF semi is likely to lose them! The EU has already allocated funds for compensation.

2. Ban all “military looking” weapons. This is to allow easy identification of terrorist’s weapons. This could spread to include air weapons.

See my post above Halodin. At present the EC proposals would only relate to semi-automatic .22LR rifles and potentially, certain shotgun models in the UK. If you haven't done so already:

Read the proposals: http://europa.eu/rapid/press-release_IP-15-6110_en.htm

Sign the largest petition opposing the proposals: https://www.change.org/p/council-of-the ... ef=Default

Write to your MEPs to state your opposition to the proposals: https://www.writetothem.com/

Respond directly to the European Commission via their feedback portal: https://ec.europa.eu/transparency/regdo ... Id=3085376

So that implies that a guy with an air-rifle vaguely AR looking would get stopped but it would be ok go for a walky down the high-street with, let's say a rugger 10/22 ?
Does anybody with half an ounce of brain still believe this has anything to do with "safety" and that total disarmament is not the next step ?

Thanks, but I've already done everything I can, to include promoting this issue locally on our club website, so others do the same.

Writing letters is all well and good, we as shooters of all disciplines need to unite & march on London if this lunacy goes ahead, or are we all going down with a whimper?

I have done all of the above, not had one reply. My local MP Conservative thinks the only people who should have guns are the Military Not even our police forces.

My gut feeling is most won't even e-mail their MEP's let alone travel to London to peacefully protest, but yes I'll be there if necessary.
