1-who is responsible for this mess?-EU Commission in first place!FOR NOT creating/implementing universal standards for deactivated firearms from the year 2010,yes...they done NOTHING in the last 5 years!
And now telling us about deacts turned in full bore used in attacks is bordering on mental case scenario

NO CONFIRMATION ABOUT FULL AUTO FIRE IN PARIS,STILL....!!!

The thing is Jenny, you've been shooting since 2012, you haven't had the experience of having your personal property all but confiscated. I have. This "tough legislation" that Mercer reckons has worked saw me loose two full bore semi rifles and a full bore pump action rifle, as well as having a shotgun butchered so it complied with the then introduced legislation. I had my pistols taken in what was effectively two bans. One on centre fire handguns, then four months later, one on rimfire handguns. Not content, I was also the victim of sensationalist, knee jerk legislation when I had to put a <6ft/lb air pistol onto FAC. And now I have the EU looking to take away more of my property, destroy my sport and curtail my freedoms, almost, as it reads, with the blessing of the NRA because previous "tough legislation" has worked!

Yep, and the NRA did precious little then and now it seems that out they trot again, spouting their shiote, which will see my disciplines decimated....

Correct and these bans/"tough legislation" did absolutely nothing to reduce gun crime or improve community safety.

Up until this point I thought that there was general acceptance amongst the shooting community including our "representative" bodies that the previous bans were bad legislation that only effected legal gun owners and did nothing to improve community safety. However it now seems that the NRA are supportive of these bans and adds much credence to the claim that they were supportive of the bans at the time and in collusion with the government and the Home Office just to keep target shooting and bisley functioning at the expense of non TR/bisley gun owners across the country.

If I thought for one moment that handing in my legally owned firearms would make the country safer then I would do so but after decades of "tough legislation" that has only affected legal gun owners and done nothing to make us safer there should be no need for a discussion about the lack of effectiveness of further legislation.

Obviously mercer finds the nfrances/yardley anti gun ownership propaganda more to his taste than the actual facts before us.

The acquiescence of many of the organisations and individuals within the UK shooting community is unacceptable.
The long-term objectives of the EU is a total ban on civilian ownership. Many in the establishment here would be delighted.
The EU and so-called gun control groups won't stop. If the EU successfully ban one type then it expedites the next ban, for example lever-actions, etc, and the other bans to follow. They will take mine and then they will take yours.
The trade and use of military weapons has no bearing on civilian ownership and the use of firearms for sporting purposes.
This is an erosion of my rights and another example of managed perception to surrender freedoms under the guise of safety or security.

One things for sure, if this ban, as proposed goes through and is ratified by the UK, you can expect the UK shooting scene to be a hollowed out shell in five years time, the majority of RFD's will have disappeared, lots of ranges and clubs closed up, leaving only a much reduced Target, FT and Service rifle shooting community to carry the torch on.

Without the youngsters coming into the shooting hobby, we will be on our arse, within ten years we will be done, with only "country pursuits" shotgun and staking surviving in ever smaller numbers.

A thorough, calculated extermination of our shooting interest and our shooting history will have taken place, with even Airsoft and deactivated firearms banned.

My point exactly... I would welkom serious proposals that prevent organised crime & terrorists to get hold of the weapons they are currently using. However this EU proposal ammendment has nothing to do with making Europe safe but everything to do with destroying shooting as a legitimate sport & controlling its population.
