Fullbore shooting in Aberdeen(shire)
Recently Moved up to Portlethen and not hearing much in the way of fullbore clubs. Was in Andersons gun shop (who have now relocated up at seal cove/Findon) and the woman working in the shop mentioned Aberdeen club, but didn't really have anything good to say about them.
Made mention that they had a customer getting a rifle built for him and he has been along 5/6 times and just watched others shooting (he was described as a well experienced shooter) with the rule being he is to attend 10 or 12 range days before being allowed to shoot.
I work offshore (adhoc) so this is going to probably take me several months before I manage the magic number. Can anyone explain why this rule is in place or suggest any other fullbore clubs close by (and clay shooting if they know of any)
Thanks, Drew.

I can recommend Aberdeen Full Bore Gun Club. I'm not a member but shoot at their range several times a year. Great facilities too. A Google search will bring up their website and calendar etc.
It's not the pace of life that concerns me, it's the sudden stop at the end!

Re: Fullbore shooting in Aberdeen(shire)
I'm a member at Aberdeen can honestly it's an excellent club , 4 ranges on which to shoot and a possibility to shoot at Barry Buddon ranges coming up soon. Yes there are some hoops to jump through but not being able to shoot for 6 months is not one of them . Your shooting safety will be observed and you will remain a probationary member until the club is satisfied that you are a safe shooter , after which you will be advised to apply for an FAC .If you already have one then a letter from a previous club stating your suitability will ease your way.
Lots of comps to shoot , and a friendly clubhouse with lots of offshore members - go for it ! A visit to look around costs nothing and you can speak to other members.
