Dromia who I have done business with will vouch for my politeness.

I have a problem with Internet bulletin board trolls accusing me of operating illegally.

If you belive I am misinformed and talking 'tosh' please enlighten me I am perfectly open to being educated.

My research would lead me to believe there is very little margin on ammo at retail but a good margin for the distributor. Which he of course needs because of the expense of shipping, storage and opportunity cost of the working capital.

Trade price is nearly half retail, I was quoted £148 for a 880 round crate, until the guy realised I was a retail customer..........7.62x39 isn't far off either
Then you have the Vat and carriage on top of that, along with fact that turnover is slow so you are left with money tied up in it.

I currently sell the stuff at a 24% mark up before business overheads are deducted, trust me the margins are slim and you don't make money selling ammunition as a gun dealer unless you have the volume which most dealers don't, the wholesalers have that bit.

I stock it as a service to my customers, who do appreciate it and that is part of the reward but doesn't pay bills.

That was with VAT, granted it didn't include carriage but at that price I'd have collected it!!!.

Just checked my most recent invoice and that is the price without vat, if the wholesaler thought you were a dealer then he would automatically quote you the price without VAT.

Collecting still costs, fuel, wear and tear and time.

Talking about buying 50k rounds or something to get a good rate.

But was unable to explain how he will get authority to possess or purchase that many.

Also, good luck with trying to get any factory / wholesaler or whatever selling that many rounds to a private individual.

Out of interest, OP - how many can you possess on your FAC ?
On my FAC I am allowed 600 rounds of 9mm not that is any of your business.

I am perfectly able to explain how I am able to hold 300k rounds and store them but it is no ones business but my own. I asked for help which I have received and now have a quote that is reasonable.
Calm down - you started a thread and I replied.
