Re: EU to propose banning semi auto "weapons"
If semi-autos can be converted to full auto then by the same logic all cars can be converted to car bombs so we had better ban them too. I was under the assumption EU laws had to be proportionate so presumably someone will be able to give me a list of all the terrorist acts or other incidents this law would have prevented. I will be writing, but without sounding defeatist, recent history teaches us the only hope of stopping this would be either if we vote to leave the EU before it takes effect, or hope there are enough corporate interests (read gun manufacturers) which will be disadvantaged by this that they are "encouraged" to backtrack.
I have personal experience of this when safety critical rules for my industry were blown away because they were deemed restrictive and costly for the big businesses concerned.
As for this Yardley chap I'd never heard of him until yesterday, but some of the venom written on his page doesn't do our cause any favours I feel, and all this talking in terms of armed resistance to the federal govt determined to crush us could paint us as precisely the kind of hillbilly preppers the anti gun lot dream we are anyway. I just want to enjoy the challenges of gallery rifle with my ergonomic well balanced easy to maintain, delightfully customisable just happens to look like a military rifle, rifle!

If only we'd give FirearmsUK some more support?...dromia wrote:History has shown us that BASC is just like the rest of the shooting "organisations" they will shaft shooters to maintain their own vested interest.
If we rely on our "national" bodies to save gun ownership in the UK then it is already lost just like the pistols and semi autos.
The "national" organisations focusing on disciplines epitomises all that is bad about British shooting, divisive camps that will shaft other shooters to keep their own little fiefdoms of interest.
We have no organisation of any substance or influence dedicated to fighting for gun ownership in this country and challenging the antis, shooting will die because of it.

What makes you think that supporting firearms Uk would make a difference.

Re: EU to propose banning semi auto "weapons"
I am happy to support Firearms UK and do but I am unsure what influence they have other than trying to mobilise "people power" which in the case of shooters seems to be but a minority of us.
People power has little effect on government if what it asks is perceived as "difficult" by government.
Look at how they just threw out the petition for a vote of no confidence in that cretin cameroon, so much for his people power petition initiative, a meaningless gesture.
We have a one party state now and that makes them think they are impregnable and need take no heed of the country, it is a sad day for British politics when the only opposition to government is the House of Lords!

The EU petition is doing well. We only need 3,589 more signatures to reach the required 50,000.
Re: EU to propose banning semi auto "weapons"
These proposed laws are not fit for purpose. Terrorism, murder, full-auto firearms, grenades and bombs are already illegal.

The EU is not fit for purpose nor it's member governments ours included. They are knee jerk reactions drawing from a prior wishlist and the desire to be seen to do something. Tackling the real problems of open borders, free movement of people, mass migration and appeasement to islam will of course be ignored.HALODIN wrote:These proposed laws are not fit for purpose.
