PH 25B sights

I just bought these replacement PH 25B sights for my Mk1 Martini International, as they came with the original 6 hole aperture and eye cup.

I knew they had surface rust prior to the sale, but was not expecting the wooden case or spare reticules and allen key.

They must have lain unused for many years due to their rusty condition and the fact that they were packed in newspaper that was dated November 21st 1985!

Anyway nothing that a can of WD40 and some fine steel wool and gun oil can't fix, as they are now fully functioning and look the part.

All in all, a good purchase.

Nice clean up they look good. Pls dont leave them with WD40 only, the only difference between that & a poor varnish is about 3 weeks! Did you touch up the bluing?

No, the bluing is untouched and the sight is coated with Ballistol.

Very nice and I would echo the sentiments regarding WD40, it is great for some applications however preventing rust long term is not one of them...

Quite agree that WD40 isn't a good choice for long term rust prevention or storage.

It was merely used to get all the parts moving properly. As I originally said, the sights are treated with Ballistol for storage.

I used them yesterday for the first time and it felt good to know that after probably many years languishing in their box, they are finally being put to use again.
