how and who can i sell it to ?

How? Cash, bank transfer, etc.
Who? ANYONE with the funds to buy it = it's NO LONGER a gun = expensive paperweight/wall-hanger/holster filler

As said previously, anyone. However you might need to check with carriers if you're selling at a distance. Most, including Royal Mail are funny about deacts.

Anyone over 18 that is guys, you need to ask (email is best) so that you have conformation of age in writing.

Royal mail do get funny, but it is perfectly legal, may I suggest special delivery for shipping, cosy about £10.

Don't send it with any inert rounds though, that gets the xray people really excited! I could tell you a story about Police Scotland, a midnight raid and a fully legal posted deac Colt 1911A1 ... very embarrassing for plod that one!

Mostly special delivery as it goes by air, I'm sure their T's & C's say use Parcelforce48 for deacts, that's what I use.

Anyway Dellboy - what's the pistol and how much are you selling it for ? there are collectors on this forum you know...

About 15 years ago my FEO told me about a raid they conducted on a guy who ordered a sling and stock for a Thompson SMG, it turned out to be a De-act.

It would appear they keep an eye on such things, I believe Robert303 may be able to shed some light on Custom procedures. razz

With regard to x raying packages, not sure what their security protocols are, probably best Royal Mail keep that quiet in this day and age anyway..

Well, the story of the deac 1911A1, interesting one that, early this year a chap hailing from the wilds of Scotland sent me a really nice old spec deac Colt 1911A1, I have had a few of these over the years, all long gone now, but I wanted one again for my own collection, it had to be a deac, but hay such is life these days.

It was sent via Special delivery, so it should have arrived with me the next day ... it didn't ... no comms ... Just as I was thinking I had been burnt and lost my money to a scam artist, I had a call from the chap, a rather p*** off call at that.

He sent the piece to me via special delivery as agreed and thought no more of it, he went off home to shoot and butcher a haggis to go with his fried Mars bar supper and went to bed.

Next thing he knows, the Spanish Inquisition were banging on his door, armed, dangerous and with dogs!!!

wanting to know why he was sending illegal firearms in the post ... it seems it had been spotted by x ray and Police Scotland hit the panic button, no one bothered to actually look at it, if they had, they would have seen it was deactivated, had the proof house stamps and had the certificate with it, perfectly 100% legal!

I guess its much more fun to call the A team and furry crocodiles out instead

All this in front of his neighbours in a small village.... just really outstanding work!

Apologies were made to the chap, but too little, way to late ... you just know the chattering classes among his neighbours will be going down the "no smoke without fire" gossip route...
