Sometimes one gets the impression they employ Firearms staff who hate guns and shooters lol.

If there were any issues with your actual cupboard contents I'm sure you would be judged against what it actually states on your ticket and not against what the issuing force 'intended'. If it came to it, for the FEO to stand up in court and state that .22WMR was not what he meant when he approved the FAC ... well, it just wouldn't wash! Looks like an oversight by the issuing firearms department to me.

Saying that, I think I'd stick with .22LR in this instance :good:

Not in my experience but they often dont have encylopedic knowledge. It could also be argued that shooters go out of their way to shoot the messenger who have to de-crypt the same unuseable laws we do.

Here's an original thought all

This is a perfectly valid question, but no amount of opinion on here will help much. Do the sensible thing and contact your licensing authority and ask them, they issued the damned thing, and if they have cocked up, they wont know until we tell them.

Secondly, as there seems to be an idea that various areas work to different laws (they dont, its all just vague and too open to interpretation, the fact that guidance is required as a patch up shows this) it makes sense to know why they have allowed what they have should you get collared in another force area and have to explain it.

Ask your FEO or licensing department folks. This way you get the difinitive (ish) answer.

I agree with what you are saying and in the long run i think it would be more hassle than its worth if i was to buy a calibre other than what i applied for.

Although in a way i feel the answer given to me about it was more 'computer said no' as they are aware i have good reason to have a .22WMR. So surely if i did want a rifle in this calibre it would save a lot of time just agreeing rather than going the paperwork route. Does make you wonder why they printed it so vague on the FAC in the first place.

When my brother was in the police here he applied for firearms training but was told he couldn't as he had experience of firearms being an FAC and SGC owner.
I was also told by our local FEO many years ago (when they were still police officers not civilian staff) that the county's policy was to have non-shooters as FEOs, he often had to ask what he was looking at as he had no idea but was willing to learn.

I must add that the guys now are great and very knowledgeable.
