It appears so... If you'd bought 9 of them, you'd have paid for the 10th with what you could've saved... lol

Knitted part is around 3 inches shorter than the Hoppes - not a problem. All stitching and materials seem identical. Stood on one end and pulled the other as hard as possible with no ill effects. Don't have a rifle to clean at the moment but I'm happy with the value of this item for a quick run through at the range before a proper clean back home. Seven for the price of one is a no-brainer for me.

Anone shooting something with a 30" tube would probably only use a bore snake as a toilet chain.

I would not let the things near anything I own (Less still a properly crowned 30" barrel) when decent rods and guides are available.

I have used a pull through on occasions but I cant see the point when the rifle gets cleaned with a rod after use anyway.

Still, they work for some and have their place.

I use one on my HK416 - which is never going to win awards for accuracy. it's a fun gun and boresnake for this application is apt.

I wouldn't dream of bore snaking my sako (see rimfire forum) or my anschutz. both get treated with a bore guide and a rod.

Shotguns however - there's no crown to mess up and a bore snake is in my humble opinion, the perfect tool to clean these after a days shooting.

I'd still advise a full clean every 2-3000 rounds or so, but a bore snake will do me for my clay shooting needs.

The photos weren't the best of the bore (still waiting on a bore scope from ebay) but the cleaning power of these snakes is impressive.

Oh well that's a relief then lollol

You got the point, they have their place (probably just for shotguns). The pull through came about because various forces did not see the need to issue rods or it was not practical/cheaper to issue pull throughs. (although the Sovs carried on for a while...clever lads the Sovs). Or they took up less space and, like your 416, their accuracy was not the main issue (although accuracy is relative and if you trash a crown on anything the remaining accuracy will deteriorate....its like saying I already have a damaged knee so it does not matter if I trash it a bit more...Pure genius).

It should be impressive, you are bunging a wire brush down the bore with a load of nylon dental floss, but you can achieve the same results (or better) sans brush. The bristles are not the issue though. As you know the damage occurs at the crown IF the cord is not pulled straight to the centreline of the bore....easy with a rod, not with a cord.

I see why squaddies would use them, they are an improved pull through and a lot of modern mill kit has a flash hider which to an extent will help guide the cord, but as I am no longer in I wont...feel free though.

My point...avoid in rifled bores if you can. A sentiment echoed by several well known gun plumbers I deal with.

Surely there is a easy fix for this ?

Some sort of cap for the muzzle to ensure the cord does not tough the crown ?
