Question about Form 202

#1 Post by Daryll »

Hi Gents,

Its years since I've done a variation, so this is my first experience of Form 202...

I'm planning on putting 2x rifles in p/x for a new one, so I'll put those 2 slots in "to be acquired" on the Form 202, but I already have 2 empty slots for other calibres on my FAC... do I need to also put them in the "to be acquired" section???

(That looks wrong... disposing of 2, asking for 4 isn't exactly a "1 for 1" :D )

So does this Form relate to my FAC as a whole, or only to this variation...?

TIA

Daryll.

Only the rifles and slots you're disposing of/acquiring need to go on F202, not slots/rifles you already have that are not part of the transaction.

A covering letter explaining exactly what you're after in plain English can also assist greatly. Well, I always do it and they have been jolly helpful to date :)

I have experienced some confusion about this on the part of the local FEO, so I make sure to explain in detail in a covering letter exactly what I want the resulting FAC to look like, and why.

Same here.

And when I get a speedy service, I tend to write a thank you letter. Having been in a position where I have been the recipient of thank you letters at annual appraisal time, I remember it was nice to feel appreciated. And it never hurt the appraisal !!

When the new form came out and I did a one for one variation, I did not put the one vacant slot I have for a 7.62/.308 on the Form 202. I did not think it part of the transaction.

2 days later I had a phone call from the Firearms Department asking if I wanted to keep the vacant 7.62/.308 slot. When I said that I did, I was told I needed to put it on the Form 202 or I would lose it. They added it for me but I now include it on the 202 when doing a variation.

This is with Nottinghamshire Constabulary.
